I never knew I was competitive until I saw this call for entries for a big quilt show, and I had the perfect idea. The resulting quilt was accepted, and I was thrilled beyond measure!
Someone liked my stuff! Besides Mom and Dad and my son, of course.
So I got hooked, and spent the next bunch of years making and submitting. Now that I’m no longer wrassling with a teenager and homework and an 8-6 job five days a week, I am back at creating things for competitions, and for my local quilt guild.
But it’s hard to balance everything I want to do, with my own style and preferences. Ultimately I want to be accepted by a gallery, because I am not a good sales person for my own things. But I still like the challenge of creating something and submitting it, and waiting to see.
One cannot take any of this too personally. That way, lies madness.
